Overview
Revision works best when you rebuild the whole picture yourself, not just re-read notes. In this lesson you draw a concept map linking data communication, media, network types, topologies, hardware, addressing, Internet, cloud.
How to build a map
Start with a central node ('Data Communication'). Branch out to major topics (media, topologies, hardware...). Add sub-branches for each key term. Use arrows to connect ideas that depend on each other — e.g. 'IP address' links to both 'router' and 'subnetting'.
Self-check
When you finish, cover the map and try to redraw a section from memory. The parts you struggle with are your revision list for tonight.
Team Map
- In groups of 3–4, build one concept map for Topics 1–8 on a large sheet.
- Each member takes two topics and their connections.
- Gallery walk: peers add one arrow or note to each map.
- What are the two main types of transmission media?
